So, while I was looking through youtube.com for salsa stuff… I found this hilarious video about a guy making fun of salsa dancing, or teaching people how to salsa dance through DVDs. I know he’s probably making fun of me, but it was the funniest thing I saw, and well.. I just had to share it for those who might get a laugh about it. You can either watch the YouTube version, or download the higher quality (and longer) version by clicking on the image above.

Salsa Episode 17 : Short-Stride Salsa Combo
June 20, 2006 · Leave a Comment
Well, we are here again, bringing you a simple, yet slick salsa combo you can learn and use at the club (or wherever).
This combo uses a lot of simple elements (half a turn), with a drop hands, and then a blind cross body lead while switching hands. In addition, we use the concepts of a wrap and a copa to finish off the combo. (You can check some of the moves in an earlier podcast). Enjoy!

Salsa (Mambo) on2 with Juan Carlos – San Diego
June 15, 2006 · Leave a Comment
If you want one of the best Salsa (Mambo) On 2 classes in San Diego, Juan Carlos is teaching at the culture shock dance center in San Diego, CA. I have been to his classes often and I have to say they are the best lessons I have gone to in the entire San Diego area (personal opinion of course).
He mixes a sense of style, technique and body movements to all of his classes and provides ample information for both leads and follows (unlike other instructors that might just teach combos). I personally recommend this instructor!
Lessons: Culture Shock Dance Studio
Address: 2110 Hancock Street, Suite 200, San Diego, CA
When: Wednesdays
Time: 7:30pm – Beginner, 8:30pm – Intermediate
Cost: See website cultureshockdance.com

Thank you Destri! (Our new Graphic Designer)

Well, I’d like to personally thank one of our members for contributing their skills to the addicted2salsa.com cause!
If you haven’t seen the new logo (see above, specifically the enclosed-2 ) we have updated it with a more stylized look. I think the logo is a huge improvement on the old thing I had previously, especially since she volunteered in helping us create it.
If you can, I would like everyone who sees Destri Andorf (http://destriandorf.com/) for helping us create a new logo for the website. I am really excited with the outcome and hope everyone enjoys the new look of it. (You’ll be seeing a lot more of it). If you would

Salsa Episode 16 : The Submarine ‘boop’ Combo
June 5, 2006 · Leave a Comment
Well, this is a funny one I think. The name of this combo was given by our videographer (Cedric Parlade) because everytime I taught the combo I would make a 'boop' sound similar to that one on the radars in submarines. If you would like to do the 'boop' sound, it is done on the counts of 1 and 5.
I usually use this combo to give me more time to think what move/combo I will be doing next – so basically I use it to stall.
Good to have it in the 'salsa arsenal' of moves.
