Salsa Episode 15 : Salsa Elements (Reloaded)

Basic Salsa Step (Reloaded)So, since we were doing a reloaded version of the salsa basic step with zoomed in angles, we decided to do the same with the other basic elements of salsa moves.

We present how to do a right turn in partnering, as well as the crossbody lead and the open break. These moves are fundamental to making a lot of combinations work once you reach advanced levels of salsa.

Salsa Episode 14 : Salsa Basic Step (Reloaded)

Its been a while… I know. Anyways, we have been asked to do the basic step once again (with zoomed in) camera angles – so we decided to do it, and make it a 'practice' with us video. So, I hope you enjoy the basic steps to salsa – reloaded.

Basic Salsa Step (Reloaded)We have also zoomed in to our feet so that you can see (along side the dirt on the floor) our footwork. I hope you use this video so you can practice your basic step, over and over again. Remember, your basic step is your best friend on the dancefloor when everything else fails.

We perform the basic step On1 and On2. We also show you the right turn On1.

Addicted2salsa Summer Dance Lessons!!

Addicted2salsa Summer

Dance Lessons! It seems like ages ago since addicted2salsa has had lessons, it’s time to start up again! Lessons will be twice a week:

Wednesdays and Fridays From 7:00-9:00 !!!
Finally the rooms and times are figured out and they’re  all listed here so that you can mark your calendars now and well in advance!  There are subject to change, but change, if any, should be minimal and will be posted here online.  Lessons will be twice a week and each day will covera different combination.  And of course lessons are still only $3.
I can’t wait to see everyone back out at lessons, and I want to see some new faces too!  There have been a number of new dance venues opening up and getting popular, so let’s get practicing at lessons so that we can go out dancing!

Hope to see you there!
Stephanie.

Grupo Niche, Rumbero Writing Contest Winner

The Detroit area salseros at SalsaDetroit.com, in conjunction with KalamazooSalsa.com wanted to do something a little different instead of just doing another dance contest as a Grupo Niche concert promotion. The writing contest was open to everyone and the range of topics were pretty open just as long as the submissions had a Latin theme. The competition was pretty stiff and we had some very good ones. Most entries were narratives and were even pretty moving but we did have one entry that was unlike all of the rest. It was a poem done in Spanish by Kalamazoo College’s, Sarah Orrellano. She is the winner of the two VIP tickets to next Friday’s (May 12th) Grupo Niche concert, as well as a backstage pass for a meet and greet. Sarah will be also be acknowledged and presented w/ a trophy at the concert. Here was her submission. ( I hope the format doesn’t get squished during transmission) Go to TresRumberos.com for ticket info.

One of our good friends, Serena Cuevas from Deseo Dance Co., made a guest star appearance with Cristian Oviedo (another addicted2salsa favorite) at last night’s show of “Dancing With the Stars”. They performed alongside another couple, to a new song called “Tu Conga Bach” by group Tiempo Libre. Great job to Serena and Cristian, […]

  • Ruben Blades and Willie Colón rehearsing El Cazanguero
If you watched the PBS special of “Latin Music USA” you must have seen the video snippet below. This particular section had a particular effect on me when I watched it. • Found Footage: President Obama Livin’ La Vida Loca
No matter which political group you may affiliate yourself with, you have to give major ‘props’ to our President for being able to get down with some Latin music, dancing and partying.
